Hello!
Thank you for choosing Harmonize to help make power systems more sustainable!
In order to forecast opportunities for your energy resources (solar, EVs, batteries) to participate in grid services, we have placed a mini-compute) in your facility that monitors its net energy consumption and device states.
What is important to know is that this is YOUR data. We act only as the custodian.
To remain fully transparent and ensure full compliance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), here is exactly how your data is collected, used, and protected:
1. What Data We Collect
- Energy & Device Data: Real-time power consumption, voltage, frequency metrics, and connected device statuses (e.g., EV charging state).
- Account Information: Name, facility address, contact details, and equipment identifiers required to set up your account.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Optimization & Grid Services: To forecast energy demand and capacity needed to participate in grid services
- Platform Operations: To monitor system health, diagnose edge-device hardware issues, and improve our predictive software algorithms.
3. Data Storage, Sovereignty & Security
- Storage Location: All telemetry and personal data are encrypted both in transit and at rest, and stored securely within Canadian data centers.
- Third-Party Sharing: We never sell your personal data. Aggregated or anonymized grid performance data may be shared with our utility partners (e.g., for grid balancing verification), but it will never contain personally identifiable information (PII) without your explicit prior consent.
4. Your Rights Under PIPEDA
Under Canadian privacy legislation, you maintain full control over your information:
- Track & Withdraw Consent: You can view when you provided consent and have the right to withdraw your consent for discretionary data collection at any time.
- Access & Rectification: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you or request corrections to inaccurate data.
- Data Deletion / "Right to be Forgotten": Should you choose to disconnect from the Harmonize platform, you can request the permanent erasure of your account details and personal data from our active databases.
